This Privacy Policy explains how uKdata ("uKdata", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use the uKdata website (ukdata.com.ng) and the uKdata Android application ("the App"). uKdata is a VTU (Virtual Top-Up) platform that lets users in Nigeria buy airtime, mobile data, pay electricity bills, and pay for cable TV subscriptions.
When you register and use uKdata (on the website or in the app), we collect:
The uKdata Android app collects only what is needed to run your account and process your purchases:
| Data type | Collected? | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email, phone number | Yes | Account creation & login |
| Password / transaction PIN | Yes (hashed) | Authentication & purchase authorization |
| Wallet balance & transaction history | Yes | Core app functionality |
| National ID (NIN) / Bank Verification Number (BVN) | No | Not collected by the app |
| Biometric data (fingerprint/face) | No | The app can use your device's built-in Face ID/fingerprint unlock to fill in your password or transaction PIN, but this is handled entirely by your phone's operating system — uKdata never receives or stores your biometric data. |
| Camera, contacts, SMS, location | No | The app never requests these permissions |
| Advertising / tracking identifiers | No | uKdata shows no third-party ads and uses no ad-tracking SDKs |
We do not sell your personal data. We share the minimum necessary data with:
We keep account and transaction data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward as required for financial record-keeping and fraud prevention. When you delete your account (see Section 7), we immediately erase your personally identifying information (name, email, phone, login credentials). Financial transaction records are retained in de-identified form, no longer linked to your identity, as required for bookkeeping and regulatory compliance.
Passwords and transaction PINs are stored using one-way password hashing — we cannot see or recover them. All traffic between the app/website and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Access to production data is restricted to authorized personnel only.
You can request correction of inaccurate account details at any time by contacting support@ukdata.com.ng.
You can permanently delete your uKdata account and personal data at any time, in either of these ways:
Deletion is immediate: your name, email, phone number, password, and transaction PIN are permanently erased, your login is revoked, and your dedicated virtual account is deactivated. Any remaining wallet balance is forfeited at that point, so please spend or arrange to withdraw your balance first if you wish to use it. Financial transaction records are retained in de-identified form as described in Section 5.
The uKdata Android app requests only:
No other device permission (camera, microphone, contacts, SMS, location, storage) is requested.
uKdata is intended for users who are at least 18 years old and legally able to hold a Nigerian bank-linked wallet. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "last updated" date above.
